Thomas Francis O’Connor

 Thomas F. O’Connor of Mashpee passed away peacefully on October 7, 2019. He was born in Lowell, MA on December 9, 1933. Tom’s tenure at Medford Savings Bank spanned 32 years, during which he held the positions of assistant treasurer, trustee, president, chief executive officer, director, and chairman of the board. He also served as director and chairman of the Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts, chairman of the Savings Banks Employees Retirement Association, and director and treasurer of the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. He was active in numerous community and civic organizations during his career. 

Thomas, also known as Tommy to friends and family had a passion for golf.  He was a member at New Seabury, The Ridge Club, Jupiter Hills, and Sea Island. He spent his summers in New Seabury where he made many friends over the years. He spent winters in Florida where he continued to play the game he loved. He was a kind and loving brother, father, grandfather, and most recently great grandfather. He made friends wherever he went and everyone who knew him had something kind to say about him. 

He is predeceased by his parents John and Theresa (Mahon) O’Connor and his brothers John O’Connor Jr., Edward O’Connor, James O’Connor, Richard O’Connor, and Robert O’Connor. Thomas is also predeceased by two of his children , Thomas F. O’Connor Jr. and Donald O’Connor. 

He is survived by his loving sisters Margaret Crowley of Needham, MA and her husband Stephen. Mary Pupa of Stoneham, MA and her late husband Ralph. His wife Amanda and her children, and her grandchildren. Thomas’s children Brian O’Connor and his wife Audra of Gilford, NH. Daughter Nancy Steffen and her husband Christopher Steffen of Bethel, CT. Son Robert O’Connor and wife Janet of Malden, MA. Loving grandfather to Christopher Steffen and his wife Theresa of the Bronx NY, Melanie Steffen of Bethel Ct, Matthew O’Connor and his wife Rachel of Burlington Ma, Timothy O’Connor of Houston Texas, Patrick O’Connor, Blythe O’Connor of Gilford NH and Great grandfather to Evelyn Moira Steffen of the Bronx.  We would like to thank the compassionate staff at Falmouth Hospital and the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod. 

A visitation will be held in the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home 36 Trapelo Rd. Belmont on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1-4PM with a funeral service to follow at 4PM.  Relatives and friends kindly invited.
