Theresa F. (Spezzaferro) Muzzioli Mercandetti

Theresa F. Muzzioli Mercandetti of Belmont, formerly from Somerville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Cosmo Mercandetti and the late Dante A. Muzzioli. Loving mother of Dante S. Muzzioli and his wife Janet of Belmont and Judy Bailey of Lexington. Devoted grandmother of Leah Sabo and her husband Chris, Simone Tropeano and her husband Antonio and Krista Maguire and her husband Connor all from Belmont. Also, survived by her loving great grandchildren, James, Claire, Andrew, Dante, Leo, Boden and Mac. Also survived by many beautiful Bailey grandchildren. Loving aunt of Sandra Coppola, Janet Ronayne, Sonny Spezzaferro and Louie Spezzaferro. Sister of the late Rosemary Petingi, Louis, Gaetano, Cosmo and Florence Spezzaferro.Terry was raised in Somerville where she married  the love of her life, Dante and they later moved to Belmont to raise their family.  Terry was on the Board of Directors at Somerville YMCA for years.  Terry learned her great love of caring for family, cooking and entertaining from her Italian mother.  Terry has over the years passed along many family traditions to her family including the beloved Christmas Eve feast of the Seven Fishes.Terry enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her second husband, Cosmo and their many friends continuing her love of cooking and entertaining. Terry was able to be cared for at home for many years due to all the time and loving attention showered upon her by her niece, Sandra who she adored like a daughter, her daughter-in-law, Janet who took over as Terry’s nurse and caregiver who she also adored like a daughter and her son, Dante who kept his promise and made it possible in so many loving ways to keep her in her home. 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in St. Joseph Church, 130 Common St., Belmont, on Tuesday morning, June 3rd, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Terry loved being treated to flowers by her family but also loved donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Donation
