Sally Howes Hansen

Sally Howes Hansen- Of Cambridge, died February 6, 2021, age 84 from a brief bout of Covid-19 and pneumonia complications. Beloved wife of 49 years of Theodore L. Hansen, loving sister of Mary Elizabeth Merrick of Exeter, New Hampshire and loving step-mother of Theodore M. Hansen of Brewster, Massachusetts. She is also survived by nephew Scott Merrick, Atkinson, New Hampshire and niece Kim Dumont, Hopkinton, New Hampshire..

Sally grew up in Portland, Maine attended Wheaton College and graduated from Colby College. After graduation she moved to Boston and then shortly began a 34 year career at MIT as an administrator in the office of Human Resources.

After marriage to Ted she first lived in Quincy and then moved to Cambridge where she had been a resident since 1984.

Sally was a long time member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and  enjoyed hiking and climbing in the White Mountains.  She particularly found pleasure in her times at Sebago Lake, Maine, at a summer house built by her grandfather. She was an active congregant at Harvard’s Memorial Church and particularly enjoyed the music there.

A memorial service for Sally will be scheduled later in the year.

Memorial donations in Sally’s memory should be directed to Mount Auburn Hospital, Quimby Center forGeriatric Care
