Sabin (James) Sullivan, MD of Beverly, formerly of Waltham and Indianapolis, Indiana, died peacefully surrounded by her family on February 13, 2023, at the age of 59. Beloved wife of Mort. Loving mother of Christopher and Harry. Daughter of Lita (Wilson) James and the late Charles James. Sister of Heather Quilhot and her husband John, and the late Christopher James. Also survived by her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, 15 nieces and nephews and 9 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Sabin attended Indiana University, Bloomington and Indiana University Medical School from 1981-1989. While at IU Medical School, she was given the John E. Heubl Award in Ambulatory Pediatrics. After moving to Boston, she was awarded the position of Chief Resident at Boston City Hospital (Now Boston Medical Center). After finishing her residency, Sabin served as a truly wonderful pediatrician from 1993 to the present both in public and private practice. While serving as a pediatrician, she received her Master’s in Public Health from Boston University in 1996. During this time, she also became involved with the Department of Youth Services where she was a Medical Consultant from 2010 to the present. Sabin was a member of the American Board of Pediatrics as well as the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
Dr. Sullivan was physician truly dedicated to her patients and she embodied the values of her own practice, the Department of Youth Services, and the Hippocratic Oath. Above all else, she loved her family, friends, and patients. Sabin was a passionate rugby, Boston sports, IU basketball, and Indy car racing fan. She also loved watching\supporting her sons and husband play\coach sports, traveling, cooking, gardening, and taking care of her beloved dog Petey.

A wake will be held at Brown and Hickey Funeral Home Friday (2/17) from 4-7 PM. A Funeral mass will be held in Sacred Heart Church 770 Mt. Auburn St. Watertown Saturday (2/18) at 12 PM. Relatives, friends, colleagues, and patients are kindly invited. Interment Private.
