Ruth (Corcoran) Desmond

Ruth (Corcoran) Desmond of Belmont, age 82, passed away unexpectedly at Mount Auburn Hospital on Wednesday September 4, 2024. 

Born in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late John A. Corcoran Jr. and Elizabeth Muldoon Corcoran and predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years Robert Desmond of Belmont MA and Raleigh NC. Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cinnamon Desmond of Woburn MA; her daughter Sharon Otten of Raleigh NC; grandson Chris Otten; granddaughter and her husband Irina and Kyle Foster; great-grandson Oliver and was excitedly anticipating the birth of her great-granddaughter Riley. Additionally, Ruth is survived by her sister Carol Sheehy as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ruth enjoyed the simple things: chatting on the phone for hours, baking treats especially her delicious brownies, sewing & upholstering, gardening, sprucing up houses, and spoiling the people she loved. She was the essence of kind. If you needed anything, she was there; her kindness knew no bounds.

Please join her family to share your memories of Ruth on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 4-6pm at Brown & Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Road, Belmont, MA.  A public burial will be held at Cambridge Cemetery, 89 Coolidge Ave. Cambridge on Thursday, September 12th at 11:AM.
