Bob was born June 20, 1937 in Arlington, MA (son of the late Albert and Bea Goulet). He graduated Notre Dame High School in Cambridge, MA where he made many cherished memories as president of his class, playing basketball and baseball, singing in plays and in the chorus. He continued playing baseball after high school where he met his wife Betty at St. Peters field in Cambridge. He joined the Army National Guard , was elected president of the Chi Rho for the Archdiocse of Boston and attended Boston College but was offered a lucrative job in life insurance sales which he continued for 45 years. After being transferred to Cincinnati, OH with the Hartford Life Insurance Company Bob and Betty moved to Belmont where they met treasured lifelong friends. He was very active for 20 years in Town Meeting and they enjoyed watching their kids’ sporting events including many fun hockey tournament trips. In retirement they continued attending every sporting event, play, or cheer competition to support all of their grandchildren. Bob also would take this time to complete his dream of obtaining his college degree graduating magna cum laude with a BA in history from Fitchburg State University. He followed this by serving many years as a pro bono tutor for ESL college students.
He truly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them including thirteen grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as his siblings and numerous cousins. Bob was generous and kind always going out of his way to help everyone and it’s fair to say that he never met a stranger. Bob was a devout Catholic most recently a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church-Mary, Queen of the Apostles Parish in Salem where he felt so much comfort and peace. He was extremely proud of his 10+ years in the National Guard his favorite memory being when he was a part of a detail for President Kennedy.
