Phyllis B. Wicks Obituary (March 9, 1930 – March 27, 2026)
Of Brewster, Phyllis B. Wicks, 96, formerly of Cambridge and Belmont passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late Earl G. Wicks and they were joyfully married for 65 years. She is survived by her son Douglas B. Wicks (Joan) of Ft. Myers, Fl and two daughters Darlene C. Ballbach (Bill) and Laurel Wicks Reilly (David) both of Brewster, MA as well as 10 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Brenda McNulty and grandson David McNulty.
Phyllis was born and raised in Cambridge where she started her journey on the perfect American Dream life. At the tender age of 17 she became the prized war bride of Earl G. who valiantly fought and survived 7 of the 8 major battles of WWII. In Cambridge, they raised their four children with great pride. There, the family were active members of Pilgrim Congregational Church. Phyllis was a woman ahead of her time, when she began working for Polaroid and managed travel for Dr. Land when his company was transitioning to an international organization; she travelled the world, as a Rep of Polaroid at the invitation of many airlines and hotels. In her later years, she became an avid gardener where she created beautiful flower gardens in her Cambridge yard and later at her home in Belmont. She loved the beauty of the earth and was fond of animals. While in Belmont, Phyllis and Earl were members of Payson Park Church. But, the most cherished possession in life was the love of her family.
A private burial will take place at the Mount Auburn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Phyllis’ memory to Payson Park Church www.paysonpark.org/give.html or the Animal Rescue League https://www.arlboston.org.
