Pasquale Coppola Obituary

   Pasquale R. "Pat" Coppola was born in Boston, son of Vincent and Ninetta Coppola. He lived in East Boston with his parents and twin brothers Ernie and Sal. In 1941 he moved to East Cambridge where his parents opened up their business, Royal Pastry Shop, where he and his brothers helped their parents with the business.
   At age 18 in 1951 he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Korea and Okinawa during the Korean War and returned to the states after the war, was discharged in 1955. He served with the 20th Air Force and 5th Air Force Squadron with a rank of Staff Sgt.
   After leaving the service he graduated from Newman Preparatory School in Boston and later attended Boston University. He was also very active in community service to his native East Cambridge, Cambridge Economic Opportunity Board for many years. Also the Donnelly Field Project, various advisory groups to improve education in Cambridge Public Schools. He also served on state boards, Mass Food, Drug and Cosmetic Commission appointed by the governor. He received in 1991 an award from the Wellington Harrington Citizens Committee for his efforts in securing 32 million (in the early 1960's) for urban renewal in East Cambridge.
    He worked for various food manufacturing companies, King Arthur Flour, Lever Brothers. In 1973 he started with his own brokerage firm Tracy Foods Inc. staying in business for almost forty five years.
   In 1969 Pat married Christine Tracy and settled in Belmont. In 1980 they happily welcomed their dear son Michael. While living in Belmont he joined the Order of the Sons of Italy in America where he was an active member having served as delegates to the order's convention and also president of the lodge. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW Post 1273 Belmont.
    In his seventies he had more time for traveling and started going on several cruises with Christine and other friends and family. He traveled to Florida, Canada, Bermuda and may cruises to the Caribbean. These were especially happy times for him. Pat also enjoyed being with his family in Marshfield which he visited  every summer since 1951 when he was a teenager
    He is survived by his wife Christine (Tracy) Coppola of 53 years. Loving father of Michael T. Coppola. Brother of the late Salvatore and Ernest Coppola. Also survived by his sister-in-laws Sandra Coppola, Monica Rankin, Elizabeth Greene and her husband Peter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home 36 Trapelo Road Belmont on Tuesday Dec 27 at 10:30 AM. Followed by a  funeral mass in the Chapel at Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital Building #81, 200 Springs Road Bedford at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Interment Highland Meadow Cemetery, Belmont. Late U.S. Air Force Veteran, Korea. Donations may be made in his memory to V.A. Bedford, Attn Voluntary Services, 200 Springs Road Bedford MA. 01730 (please note "IMO Pasquale Coppola Dementia Ward" on the check).
