Born July 3, 1926 in Visna Sunava Slovakia to Stefan and Suzanna (Uhlik) Mayzel, Michael moved to the United States in 1930.  He attended St. James Parochial Grade School Manhattan New York from 1933-1940 and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School Bronx New York in 1944. After graduating from high school he served in the US Navy as Signalman, Third Class from 1944-1946 in the Pacific Theater of WWII. He worked for D.C Andrews Customs Brokers and later founded A&M Customs Brokers, which he owned for thirty years. Michael was active in his community, both professionally and personally. He served as President of the Boston Customs Brokers Association and was a member of the Belmont Town Club, St. Joseph’s Holy Name Society and a Boy Scout Master. A long time sports fan, Michael was a member at Nashawtuc Country Club and Fresh Pond Golf Club, and was an avid supporter of the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. He truly was a member of the Greatest Generation. Michael had a strong love and devotion for family. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Mayzel Cotter and her husband Paul, his son Richard Mayzel and his wife Karen, his daughter Suzanne Edwards and his son Michael J. Mayzel and his wife Debbie. He is also survived by his grandchildren Casey Mayzel Eakes, Allison Mayzel, Steven Edwards, Michelle Edwards, and Mia Mayzel. A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2022.

We would like to thank all of the people involved in our father’s care especially over the past two years: the staff at Neville Place, the caregivers of Peace of Mind Home Health Care, the nursing and support staff at Good Shepherd Hospice and of course Marci and Anna Marie.
