Michael Courtney Sr., loving father of five children, passed away at age 76 on June 10th.
Michael was born on October 1, 1944, to Thomas and Dorothy Courtney of Belmont, MA. He attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and served in the US Air Force. He went on to pursue his career in dentistry. He graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry and then received his Periodontics degree from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He cared for his patients for 25 years at his dental office in Arlington, and he was proud that some of his children continued his legacy in the dental field.
He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Dorothy Courtney. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Jones, Sarah Courtney Owens, Michael Courtney Jr., Kathryn Roy, and Richard Courtney, as well as eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas F. Courtney Jr., his sister, Patricia Graham and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was so loved and will be missed by all who knew him. His children would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Sunrise of Lynnfield Assisted Living for their love and support.
Visiting hours will be held in the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home located at 36 Trapelo Road, Belmont, on Wednesday June 16 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 128 Common Street, Belmont on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited.
