Mary Kathryn (Kaye) Green, 99, of Cambridge, died peacefully on July 18, 2021 at the Sawtelle Hospice Center in Reading.
Kaye was born to Robert DiVall and Elizabeth O’Keefe DiVall in Madison, Wisconsin on May 17, 1922, the third of four siblings. She was the devoted wife of the late Gerald R. Green for over 60 years, the beloved mother of the late James Green (Janet Grogan) of Somerville, Mary Beth Kress (Peter McLoughlin) of Arlington, Mark Green (Susan Lofton) of Boulder, CO, and Nancy Herbert (Kent Herbert) of Makanda, IL, the grandmother of 11 and the great- grandmother of 18. Together with her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, they honor her long and well-lived life.
Kaye was a woman of great heart, faith and love of life. Into her 90’s, she enjoyed brisk walks to Harvard Square, her daily workout, ballroom dancing, and welcoming newcomers wherever she found herself.
She will be remembered for her vitality and her genius for building relationships. She showed a great interest in people and befriended many, making each feel uniquely valued. She was a longtime member of St. Anastasia Church in St. Augustine Beach, FL, and served there for many years as Eucharistic minister, greeter, and tour guide. She has been a regular member of the faith community of St. Peter’s Church in Cambridge for the past 7 years. Before moving to the Boston area, she lived in Carpentersville, IL, Camden, ME, and St. Augustine, FL.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St Peter's Church 100 Concord Ave, Cambridge, MA on Saturday July 16th, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
