Mary Ann Miller

Mary Ann Miller (Romeo), 85, of Belmont, MA, passed away on June 30, 2026. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Philip J. Miller, and her parents, Joseph J. and Josephine A. Romeo of Belmont. She is survived by her three sons, Philip J. Miller, Jr. and his wife Theresa (Kirchner) of Sudbury, MA, Douglas C. Miller and his wife Diane (Baronie) of Marion, MA, and Daniel A. Miller of Belmont, MA; as well as her six grandchildren, Kevin D. Miller, Joseph P. Miller and his fiancé Jess Landry, Timothy F. Miller and his wife Sidney (Murrillo), Dena E. Fuller and her husband Evan, Julie E. Miller and her fiancé Tyriq J. Hill, and Justin W. Miller and two great grandchildren, Mia R. Miller and Jameson D. Miller; as well as her brother, John J. Romeo and his wife Cathy (Bemis) of Bedford, MA. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary Ann was a lifelong resident of Belmont, graduating as a member of Belmont High School’s class of 1958. She was a longtime employee of the Belmont Public Schools Special Education Department. Mary Ann was also a founder and Treasurer of Friends of Belmont S.P.O.R.T., a non-profit supporting adaptive sports, recreation, and social programs for people with special needs.

Mary Ann was the devoted mother of Danny, her special needs son, for 56 years. They complemented each other’s abilities and navigated the world together. Mary Ann and Danny were staples on the fields and pool decks of Belmont and various Special Olympics venues including World Games in New Haven, CT and Notre Dame at the Winter Classic. She took tremendous pride in Danny’s achievements and collection of medals. In addition, she enjoyed making connections with the other parents and staff involved with Belmont S.P.O.R.T. who became lifelong friends.

Mary Ann was the matriarch of her large extended, Italian family and was the glue that held us all together. She loved her family with deep, unshakable devotion. She looked forward to and loved her annual vacation on Cape Cod with her family, especially her thoughtful goddaughter, cousin, and friend Darlene Skinner of Bowie, MD who shared her vacation for over 30 years. Mary Ann’s folding chair and umbrella at chair #7 on West Dennis beach was the hub of family beach activity and many, many memories.

Visiting Hours: Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather in celebration of Mary Ann’s life during visiting hours on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Brown & Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Road, Belmont, MA 02478.

Funeral services: Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8th, at 9:00 A.M. before processing together to St. Luke's Church, 132 Lexington, Street, Belmont 02478, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Vincent Daily, followed by a burial service at Belmont Cemetery, 121 Grove St, Belmont, MA 02478.
