Mary E. Gorman of Belmont, and Little Neck, Ipswich, MA passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, February 12, 2023. She was 86 years old. Mary was the beloved wife of the late John T. Gorman, Jr., and devoted mother of Erin Gorman (John Haneffant) of Boston, Colleen Gorman of Arlington, Maureen Flynn (Steven) of Winchester and Sean Gorman of Westwood. Loving grandmother of Liam, Brendan and Colin Gorman, and John Flynn. Devoted sister to Kathleen Donovan (the late Richard) of Arlington, Andrew Philbin (Mary) of Lynnfield and the late Joseph Philbin (Ellen). She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Mary is a graduate of Matignon High School and Regis College, earning her master’s degree in Education before working at St. Patrick’s School in Watertown and the W.L. Chenery School in Belmont. She went on to work in Human Resources at the former Bolt Beranek and Newman. Mary was an active member at her former parish of Our Lady of Mercy in Belmont. A typical day included morning Mass, exercise at the Jenks Center in Winchester, followed by coffee with friends. A completely devoted Grandmother, ‘Nana’ cherished spending time with her grandsons, never tiring of attending their school events, hockey games, shows and Grandparents’ Days at St. Sebastian’s School. Since her childhood, she spent summers at her “happy place,” the family cottage at Little Neck in Ipswich, and particularly relished seeing both her children and grandchildren enjoying their summers there as well.
