Mary Elizabeth (McLucas) Daniels, 80, of Belmont passed away suddenly on Jan. 7, 2024. Daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Munhall) McLucas, Mary was born May 26, 1943. A lifelong Belmont resident, she graduated from Belmont High School in 1961. Mary’s greatest joy was being a loving mother of 4 children. She thrived in this role. Each day she filled with arts and crafts, fun at Grove Street Park and the Underwood Pool, and many other adventures. She loved being a Boyscout and Brownie leader, and volunteering for the PTA, showing up to school on hot days with popsicles for her children’s classrooms. Mary loved cooking. Every night she had a full homemade dinner ready at the table. She would ring the cowbell to let the kids know it was time! She loved to bake! There were always homemade cookies, birthday cakes, and new recipes to try. Mary always found a reason to celebrate her children. She could always be found at one of her children’s many sporting events. She was also creative enough make every Halloween costume from scratch and very rarely said no to playdates or sleepovers. She loved being a mother more than anything in this world - until she became a Grammy, and then life was complete! Family trips to the beach, Cape Cod, and family dinners were her favorite. She loved the holidays and never missed a birthday. Her last day with her entire family was spent laughing with her children and grandchildren during their annual Daniels Family Christmas yankee swap and competitive game of Left Right Center with them all. Mary loved all her Munhall cousins and looked forward to their annual Munhall cousins Christmas parties. She enjoyed traveling to Florida, cruises, dancing, and outings with friends. Mary will always be remembered as a beautiful Mom and Grammy that was always dressed to impress. She loved to shop, read, and spend time with family and friends. She leaves behind her children: Elliot Daniels, Marshall Daniels, Elizabeth Dragone and Mary Ellen Birenbaum (Jeffrey). Cherished “Grammy” of Mia, Joseph and Ryan Dragone; Brett, Cora and Charlotte Daniels; and Violet, Jude, and Blythe Birenhaum. Sister of the late Willard McLucas. Also survived by her former husband Lawrence L. Daniels.
