Marion A. (Colarusso) Sullivan

Sullivan, Marion “Mickey” A. (Colarusso) 100, of Cambridge, Scituate, and Delray Beach. First Lady of Cambridge. A lifelong Cantabrigian. Marion was proud of her Italian heritage, saying,  “I am Italian from the top of my head to the tip of my toe.” She was proud of the Irish lad she married. Marion passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at home with her son, Michael, by her side. Beloved wife and sweetheart of 83 years to the late Walter J. Sullivan, Mayor Emeritus City of Cambridge. Devoted mother of Marion Murphy and her husband Patrick of Belmont, the late Mary Carven and her late husband William of Hanover, Maureen Santoro and her husband Richard of Hingham, Walter Jr. and his wife Susan of Hingham, and Michael, current Clerk of Courts Middlesex,  former Mayor of Cambridge, and his wife, Denise of Cambridge. She was Nana to William, Christopher, Patrick, Richard, Alyssa, Elizabeth, Michelle, Michael, James, Marissa, Katherine, Michael, Paul, and Walter III. Big Nana to twenty-two great-grandchildren. Devoted daughter to late Anthony and Florence (Sateriale) Colarusso and sister of late Julia Devaney and Jean Cantwell. Marion was a St Paul’s Mother’s Club member, worshipped at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church), and was a Saint Paul’s Cub Scout Den Mother. Marion was an expert on Filene’s Basement markdowns. She was a devout Red Sox fan, attending her first World Series in 1986. Marion was noted for her cooking, especially her fried chicken wings, spaghetti sauce (gravy), and meatballs – her secret ingredient was love. She loved dancing especially with her Walter. Her children are truly grateful for the loving care her son Michael, daughter-in-law Denise, and grandsons Michael Jr. and Paul gave Nana after Grampi passed.   We appreciate those who helped with Nana’s care: Marcia Wyganowski, Myriam Domexa, and Buffy from Care Dimensions.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home 36 Trapelo Rd, Belmont, on Sunday, March 5th from 3:00 - 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will celebrated in St. Paul's Church Bow & Arrow Sts. (Harvard Square) Cambridge on Monday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will follow in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Pat Roche Hospice Home, which was very dear to Mary Carven following the care they gave her husband and father. https://www.nvna.org/nvna-and-hospice-charitable-fund/.
