Kenneth B. Sampson, 82, of Belmont, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2023. He was born in Brockton MA June 1, 1941, son of the late Kenneth E. Sampson and B. Priscilla Boeshaar Sampson. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, Princeton University, and Columbia Business School. He subsequently served as an officer in the US Navy before working for ComEnergy in Information Services. His “retirement” job for 10 years was working for the IT department for Harvard University human resources department. He also served for a decade as volunteer treasurer of Friends of Matènwa, a non-profit supporting children’s education in rural Haiti.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years Shirley Viles Sampson, daughter Joanna Sampson (Suffield, CT) Son-in-Law Robert Whitehouse, sister Deborah Edwards (Hingham, MA), brother Thomas Sampson (North Easton, MA), grandchildren Sarah Whitehouse and Benjamin Whitehouse (Suffield, CT), along with multiple extended family members including Barbara Sampson, Chris Hamilton, Sam Hamilton, Cynthia Neely, Theodore Wadsworth, Leila Wadsworth, Anna Wadsworth and Emma Wadsworth.
Ken loved being with family and was a wonderful and steadfast husband, father, brother and friend. Ken especially enjoyed holiday celebrations and yearly birthday gatherings on the Cape. He loved the ocean and spent much of his youth and adult life out on the water. Ken liked staying active and was a water skier and downhill skier until late in life.
In keeping with Ken's wishes there will be no funeral services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation in Kenneth Sampson's memory can be made to: The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB.org) or Friends of Matènwa (Matènwa.org).
