John Magazzu, 55, of Belmont, passed away unexpectedly on June 3rd, 2024. Born September 8, 1968. John was a devoted father to Giovanni Forte Magazzu, and the beloved son of Lavinia (Arrigo) and the late Giuseppe Magazzu of Belmont. He is survived by his cherished siblings, Gayle Magazzu of Chestnut Hill and Marc Magazzu of Watertown, and was the adored uncle of Alexander and Julia Dolan. John also leaves behind many cousins who held a special place in his heart.
John was a Registered Pharmacist and teacher who found immense joy in his work. He loved his students dearly, imparting knowledge with passion and dedication. Beyond his professional life, John’s heart overflowed with love for his dogs; Noopy, Rocky, and Lillie. They were not just pets but cherished companions, akin to his beloved son Giovanni. His relationship with God was also very important to him and faith was a big part of his life.
A man of diverse interests, John had both an artistic and book smart side to him. He found solace and satisfaction in hiking and weightlifting to keep fit. His simple pleasures included ice coffees and donuts from Donna’s Donuts, indulging in pizza from Stromboli’s and bird watching.
A Celebration of Life honoring John will be held at Grace Chapel, 59 Worthen Road in Lexington, on Tuesday, June 18th, at 1:30 PM. All relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Giovanni Magazzu Fund (details to follow). John’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, compassion and unwavering love for his beloved son will live forever.
