Joanne C (Romeo) Williams

Joanne C. (Romeo) Williams, a longtime resident of Belmont passed away on March 24, 2026 at the age of 92. Born on July 2,1933, she was the daughter of Dr. Salvatore N. Romeo and Beatrice (O'Neil) Romeo. Joanne worked as a traffic supervisor and matron for the Belmont Police Department for 38 years. She also worked as a switchboard operator for MIT and Sancta Maria Hospital for over 10 years. Joanne was predeceased by her husband Francis X. "Willie" Williams. Her daughters Sally A. LeMoine and MaryAnn Chemelli. Her grandson Jason D. Painter. Her brother Thomas R. Romeo and her sister-in-law and dear friend Louise Romeo. Her brother William F. Romeo. She is survived by her daughter Paula M. Axelrod and husband David. Her grandchildren Todd LeMoine, Melissa Painter and her partner Michael Collins, Ryan Herlihy and his wife Dawn. Her great grandchildren Sean Painter-LaPointe, Kinsley Collins, Marley and Finnian Herlihy. Her caring and supportive son-in-law William Chemelli. Also her loving Romeo family of nephews Thomas, Paul, Robert, James and her neice Jeanne ((Romeo) Castro. Her neice Louise Chick along with many more neices and nephews.  A visitation will be held in the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home 36 Trapelo Road Belmont on Wednesday April 1st from 10:30 - 12:00 noon. Followed by a funeral home service at 12:00 noon. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.
