James S. Trainor, Sr. of Belmont, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2026. Jim was born in Somerville to the late Joseph and Helen (Pratti) Trainor. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen (O’Leary) Trainor. Loving father of Jimmy Jr. (and wife Marcia) , Rebecca (and husband Taylor), Danny (and partner Cristin), & Katelyn (and husband Jonas); his legacy will live on through his eight wonderful grandchildren: James Stephen III, Camila, Theodora, Maeve, Olivia, Jake, Hope, and Alfie. Jim was the youngest brother of Joseph Trainor of Framingham, Diane Kilgarriff of Dennis, Shirley Gillen of Plymouth, and Richard Trainor (deceased). He was an engineer by trade and was forever creating things with his hands - whether a fence, a dollhouse, or the world’s best calzone. An active member of the community, Jim is fondly remembered as a coach to a generation of Belmont Little League Baseball players.
