CAHILL, Gerald F. “Jerry” of Acton, formerly of Belmont and Athens, PA, January 8, 2025. He was born in Athens, PA on May 19, 1933. He attended Athens High School and was a graduate of The College of Holy Cross, class of ’53. Jerry was a member of the NROTC and served his country honorably as a Naval Officer. He furthered his education at Syracuse University, where he obtained a Master of Arts degree in Chemistry. Jerry worked for several years at Polaroid Corporation in Waltham, MA where he helped develop the technology of the Instant Film of the One Step camera. He was a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector and alongside his wife, a Pre Cana counselor at Saint Joseph Church during his many years in Belmont. Jerry is predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Lil” Cahill. He was the loving father of Michael Cahill and his companion Theresa DeChiaro, Anne Cahill Boyle and her husband Leo, James Cahill and his wife Linda, John Cahill and his wife Victoria, Kevin Cahill and his companion Margaret Munnelly, Joan Cahill Davis and her husband Philip, and Stephen Cahill and his wife Joanne. Jerry was the much-loved grandfather of Michael Joseph and his wife Asrah, Matthew, Brian, Laura, Jack, Elizabeth, Gretchen, Eliza, Thomas, Sydney and Abigail Cahill, Connor Boyle, Robert and Timothy Davis, Christine Davis Wiggins and her husband Owen, and was the brother of the late Barbara Cahill Spangler of San Jose, CA. Jerry is also survived by nephew Brian Spangler and his wife Eileen of CA and predeceased by nephew Stuart Spangler of San Jose, CA. Visiting hours at Brown and Hickey, Trapelo Road, Belmont on Sunday, January 12 from1:00 - 4:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 128 Common Street, Belmont on Monday, January 13 at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Interment will be at Highland Meadow Cemetery, Belmont. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Benchmark Associate Holiday Fund, 10 Devon Drive Acton MA 01720, in thanks and gratitude for the wonderful care, support and love given to both our parents during their years at Robbins Brook.
