Fred attended both the University of Chicago and U Mass Boston, earning a degree in
Economics. The youngest of four children, Fred was a precocious early reader and showed
exceptional skill at the game of chess. He had a remarkable memory, a discerning wit, and
showed special devotion to family members challenged by a disability. Fred’s wife Ann and his
brother and sisters are deeply grateful for the time they had during Fred’s last days to
exchange directly with him many memories of shared experiences as well as words of comfort
and love for one another. Fred’s deep spiritual faith sustained him during that time and was the
source of the profound peace and joy he generously shared with everyone around him during
his final days. Fred’s family is grateful to all those who offered prayers and other forms of
support for Fred and for his wife and family during his unexpected hospitalization. Visiting
hours will be held at the Brown and Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Rd, Belmont, MA, on
Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am
on Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph Church, 130 Common St, Belmont, MA. A livestream of
the service will also be accessible at the time of the Mass using the link https://
www.harborview.live. Interment will take place at Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter St, Norwood,
