It is with sadness that we announce the death of Fred Seifer, beloved husband, father and grandfather on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Fred loved his family and enjoyed being with them telling stories of his life. Born in the Bronx, NYC he always rooted for the Yankees and Giants. Fred was a graduate of Rutgers University, served in the Army during the Korean War, was a newspaper reporter for The Bergen Record and eventually found his career as a Psychiatric social worker helping children and families. Fred always was the best at whatever he chose to do. When teaching English to Spanish students, he studied Spanish so he could explain in their language the words they might not understand. In later years, he took up sculpting and donated pieces to libraries and organizations: he excelled at chess but then found his passion of Table Tennis which he loved playing and winning with friends at the Lexington Senior Center.
Fred leaves behind his wife and best friend, Peggy (Kelly) and three children Judy Gordon and her husband Dante, Sandy Fontecchio and Jeffrey Seifer and his wife Karen. Fred was blessed with six grandchildren whom he treasured, Andrew and Missy Seifer, Josh and Tess Gordon and Cole and Ella Fontecchio. Preceding him in death was his brother Sidney and his wife Jean.
