Frances E. McCauley, of Cambridge, passed away on March 2nd, 2026. Born on June 8th ,1940, she was the beloved daughter of the late Francis T. & Elizabeth H. (Moran) McCauley and devoted sister of the late Elisabeth A. McCauley & Mary Jane MacDonald-Rhodes. Loving aunt of several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Frances attended Matignon High School in Cambridge where she was on the basketball team, attained highest honors, and was salutatorian of her graduating class. She was offered a full scholarship to study chemistry at DuPont, which she declined in order to attend Boston College. At Boston College she received her Bachelors of Education, with honors, and continued her education at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she earned her Masters in Education. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma society for women educators and was very active in St Peter’s church activities.
Fran enjoyed many summers at the Cape. She truly loved swimming in the ocean, daily bike rides and she loved it when family came and spent time with her. Fran was often seen by friends and neighbors when she would go for her daily walks in the neighborhood. Fran had a true gift to gab, we loved hearing her stories and chatting with her. When there was a Red Sox game on you knew Fran would be watching, she was a true Boston Sports Fan through and through.
All arrangements are private and under the care of the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home in Belmont. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frances can be made to a charity of your choice.
