Supported by family and friends and Good Shepherd Hospice, F. Bruce Westgate died Monday, December 6, 2021 at his home in Belmont, Massachusetts. Thanks to Dr. Joan Goldberg and team, Bruce survived 16+ years with multiple myeloma. Born 1940, in Chicago to Dr. Clyde J. and Viola Westgate, Bruce graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1965 with a degree in architecture. After serving in Peace Corps Tunisia he worked for Mies van der Rohe. He later worked for Brown and Daltas in Rome and Hugh Stubbins and Associates in Cambridge. Bruce loved architecture, nature, carpentry, genealogy, flowers, and travel. He adored birds and went all over the world to see them. He was a member of numerous nature organizations and ran the Belmont Victory Gardens for many years. He was a member of the Mayflower Society. He had strong ties with Rhode Island where he served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Sons of the Revolution. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandra Fitzgerald and Gail Nathan. Bruce is survived by his wife Eileen and sons: Bruce F. (Marilyn Jeanne) and Sean (Marion), and 5 grandsons: Bruce, Brett, Brennen, Thomas and Michael. Bruce lived a long and very productive life and is missed by all.
