Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he attended Boston College and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and later received his Master’s in Education from Boston State College. Charlie began his teaching career as a student teacher at Burbank Elementary School and was soon hired as a full-time 6 th grade teacher at Payson Park Elementary School. After a few years in the classroom, he was promoted to principal and assigned to the Chenery Elementary, where he also coached after school sports, then onto the Butler Elementary and Wellington Elementary Schools. He held memberships in a number of professional organizations throughout his career and strongly believed in education for all ages.
Charlie retired from the Belmont Public School system in 1990, after 32 years of devoted service to his community. In recognition of his contributions, the Charles J. Crisafulli Playground was dedicated in his honor in 1991 at the Wellington Elementary School.
In retirement, Charlie and his beloved wife, Phyllis enjoyed spending time at their home in Dennis on Cape Cod for the summers and winters in their home in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
