Catherine (Wentzell) Wells of Medford, MA, formerly of Cambridge, MA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, December 29, 2023. Cathy leaves behind her beloved husband, James Wells with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She also leaves her children and their families: Sons James Jr. and his wife Pamela of Northbridge, MA, Robert and his wife Susan of Lyndeborough, NH, and daughter Catherine Letorney of Medford, MA. Cathy was loving Nana to Michael, Amanda, Amber, Christopher, Ashley, and Samantha. Cathy’s dogs always had a special place in her heart, she leaves behind Rolo who was her constant companion and never left her side. Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Catherine (Long) Wentzell and two sisters, Mary Harvey and Joanne Takach. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Cathy was born and raised in Cambridge, MA where she met the love of her life, James, and raised their family. She graduated from Cambridge High and Latin High School and worked for many years for the City of Cambridge Traffic Department where she became friendly with many people in the city. She was deeply religious and found much strength in prayer during her times of difficulty. Cathy will be greatly missed by many.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, on Saturday morning, January 6th from 9:00 - 10:00 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Catherine can be made to the animal shelter of your choice, which Cathy cared about deeply, would be greatly appreciated.
