Athena McInnis, resident of Belmont and Gloucester MA, passed away peacefully on Nov 23rd. She is predeceased by her husband George, her sister Electra Miller, her brother Alexander Yphantis, and her sister-in-law Charlotte Yphantis.
Athena is survived by her daughters Aluna Michaels and Leslie Kane. She has three grandsons, Steven, Shaun and Scott Kane, and one great-grandson, Lucas Kane. She is predeceased by her great-grandson Zachary Kane. She also had many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Athena was a unique personality who bonded with many people in both Belmont and Gloucester, and leaves behind many friends of all ages and walks of life!
Athena was a long-time member of the Belmont Historical Society, Women’s Club, the Massachusetts Archaeological Society and the American Federation of Astrologers. She taught many astrology classes through local adult education. She loved walking Plum Cove beach in Gloucester, hunting for arrowheads and other Native artifacts.
Athena’s Memorial service will be Saturday Dec 13 at 11am at Plymouth Congregational Church, 582 Pleasant St, Belmont. Livestream available. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to Boston’s Children’s or St. Jude’s Hospital.
