Antonette L. Borelli “Nettie” of Belmont, MA & Naples, Florida passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday July 13th 2024 at the age of 94. Nettie was born in East Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in West Roxbury, a suburb of Boston. She graduated from the Boston Public Schools and the High School of Practical Arts where she majored in a Special Art Course. She was awarded a scholarship to the Art School of Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. She continued her art training at the Butera School of Art where she took some life classes, and continued her art training under many established artists, including Donald Plummer of Lexington and Thelma Joiner of Belmont and Rockport, MA. In recent years, she has been active with the Naples Art Association at the Von Liebig Art Center in Naples, Florida and is a juried artist who displays her work at “Art in the Park” as well as with the Art Crafters of Naples, Florida. She met her husband at a Winter Carnival at Boston University and have been married for 70 years. She loved her Grandchildren and was famous for her homemade pizza. She went on to study business at Boston Clerical business college in Boston. Nettie was an insurance broker along with her husband in a family business for 70 years. Her two children are carrying the business on today. In addition to her interest in art, Nettie did volunteer work as a teacher/reading partner for children in the Naples Elementary School System. She was an avid tennis player and longtime President of the Belmont Tennis Association. She was a longtime active member of the Sagamore Beach Colony Club. She was also a member of the Vineyards Country Club in Naples, Florida and the White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth, MA. Since her retirement, she spent her summers on Cape Cod and winters in Naples, Florida, along with her husband Angelo who assisted and encouraged her with the painting and art shows. Nettie donated much of her art work to charitable and worthy causes. Nettie is survived by her husband Angelo Borelli of 70 Years. Loving mother of Jeanne Borelli of Belmont, John “Jay” & his wife Alison of Belmont. Grandmother of Anthony Monteiro, Joseph Monteiro (fiancé Kabrina Pierce). Anthony and Joseph were instrumental in her care in the final days. Christina Iannacchino & her husband Chris, Vincent Borelli & his wife Julia, John Borelli Jr, & Nicholas Borelli. Daughter of the late Joseph & Clara Bandanza. Sister of the late Claire Ward, Santo Bandanza, Pasquale ‘Ben’ Bandanza, Joseph Bandanza, & Grace Bromley.
Funeral from the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Rd., Belmont, on Wednesday morning July 17th at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrated in St. Joseph Church 130 Common St Belmont at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Interment will follow in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Nettie to St. Joseph Church Building Maintenance Fund, 130 Common St, Belmont, MA 02478.
