Alice graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. She was the third generation at the College, and was followed by two more generations. A wonderful family legacy. In her senior year she was recruited into the Army, where she received her Physical Therapy training. She served the two years of her obligation before returning to civilian life. She loved her profession, and was highly successful, becoming head of the Chest Physical Therapy Department at MGH before retiring from full time work. She continued part time at Winchester Hospital after her marriage to Brian Gross in 1975. Before moving to Brooksby, Alice was active in the Unitarian Players and Enka in Winchester, and became a member of Chapter M, PEO, her mother's Chapter in Melrose, where she was active until she entered Chapter Eternal. After Alice moved to Brooksby she became active in Theater at the Pond. Her grandchildren believe that she was famous at Brooksby, as everyone she encountered stopped her to share a story, ask a question or otherwise just enjoy her positive, joyful presence.
