Alan H. Michaels of Pinehills in Plymouth passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on August 17, 2025. Alan is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary (Synnott) Michaels, and by two brothers, Steven Michaels of Kennett Square, PA, and Neal Michaels of Cambridge, MA. He is remembered lovingly as uncle, great-uncle, and brother-in-law by the extended Michaels and Synnott families.
Alan leaves behind many close colleagues and friends in Maryland, where he established a highly successful dental practice that continues today. There, as he truly loved his work, he also enjoyed a life of varied interests, most especially his joyous obsession with all aspects of the world of Formula 1 racing, as well as an eager desire to explore novel and stimulating sites and places around the world, and always, to find curious and unique eating adventures.
Moving back to Massachusetts, he maintained those friendships and interests so important to him and quickly made new friends in Plymouth. He set about rediscovering all there was to see, do and enjoy all over the Cape. But above all, captivated by the awesome beauty of the ocean and Manomet Point, viewed from the top of the high bluff, Alan dearly cherished his return to the life-long friendships he had made and kept faith with over so many years in that unique and special Manomet community. His great joy, his ever-present laughter, and his complete happiness will be forever present for all of us on the sands that he so loved.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to join Alan’s family at a graveside service to be held on Thursday, August 28th, 2025, at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow at the Bigelow Chapel.
Memorial donations in Alan’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38102-9929. And please remember to honor him with kind, generous, thoughtful and loving gestures each day, living as he did throughout a wonderful and honorable life.
