Merritte Lafayette Fox

Born Merritte Lafayette Fox, Tuesday September 10, 1946; to Technical Sargent, Cas Fox Jr. of Jacksonville, Alabama and Frances Bostic of Anniston, Alabama, at Fort McClellan, Alabama, but raised in Altgeld Gardens, Chicago Housing Authority in Chicago, Illinois. In 1964, completed High School at Carver High School and enlisted into the U. S. Air Force during the United States Vietnam War Era, February 12, 1965. Completed tour of duty October, 1968 with honors and entered Olive Harvey Community College, January 1969.  Graduated June 1972 with an Associate in Arts with honors, Business bestowed by the City Colleges of Chicago. In February 1975 Merritte graduated DePaul University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce. October 1981 he received a diploma from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for successfully completing the course of study for their Masters of Business Administration at Western New England College, later named Western New England University.

Merritte began his business career in Chicago with the Chicago Family Loans briefly prior to focusing on an accounting emphasis and starting with the A.J. Canfield Co., as a junior accountant while attending night school. His career advanced at fortune 100 corporations; Digital Equipment Corporation brought him into New England where he spent the majority of his cooperate career and his life. He returned to the Chicago area briefly in 1998 as the Group Finance Director for the North Central Business Group, Yellow Freight Systems. He returned to New England in 2001 as a Finance Consultant to industry and individuals until he retired.

Merritte was married and divorced three times to Paulette Berry and Willalyn Thomas of Chicago. IL. And LaNita JoBell of Gahanna, OH. He was the oldest child with four sisters; Josephette,  Donna Lynn, Senora and the late Jacqueline.  

  A graveside service will be held in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday Oct 30th at 11:00 AM.
