Frederick Barnard Brewer, Grateful Dead’s greatest fan passed away the evening of October 5th, 2017 at Belmont Manor, Belmont, Mass.
Phred (as he liked to be called) was a one of a kind guy. He certainly marched to his own drum beat or super loud stereo system. He was always ready to tell a good joke. He was a generous gift giver. He spent hours creating cd’s for friend’s enjoyment. Reading and bridge consumed much of his time when he wasn’t aggressively supervising the Red Sox or the Patriots via television or at the stadium. He loved dogs and cats, especially his first dog, Junior. He loved his Chinese food, lobster, fried clams and all food pretty much.
The world needs a lot more Phreds!
Phred leaves behind his sisters Lisa Sawall, Diana Davis and Elizabeth Brewer and his brother John Brewer. His nieces Kristine Rozan, Ginger Symmes-Rivera and Sally Anna Hand and his nephew Alex Hoff will miss their uncle..
Phred always lived in Massachusetts unless he was attending Grateful Dead concerts on all corners of the earth. For the record he was born in Princeton, NJ October 14, 1939 to his mother Anna Bowler Lindley (deceased) and his father Harry Whitin Brewer (deceased). He served in the Marine Corp reserves. He worked and played bridge and backgammon at The Boston Chess Club for years.
A farewell to Phred will take place on October 28, 2017 at 12:30 at the Milton Cemetery, Milton, Massachusetts
