Edward P. Rielly

Edward P. Rielly, 68, of Waltham, MA died at his home on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was predeceased by his father, James L. Rielly of Belmont, MA, and by his brothers James L. Rielly of San Francisco, CA and John F. Rielly of Coral Springs, FL. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Lyons) Rielly; by his mother, Agnes Hughes Rielly of Belmont; by his brothers: Michael Rielly and his wife Erica of Pepperell, MA; Paul Rielly and his wife Donna of Belmont, MA; Thomas Rielly and his wife Suzette of Burlington, MA; Terry Rielly and his wife Christina of Groton, MA; Kevin Rielly and his wife Kara of Marshfield MA; by his sister-in-law Claire (Lyons) Caso and her husband Carmine of Waltham, MA; by many nieces and nephews; and by a large extended family. He served his country honorably as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army in Thailand and Vietnam and in his native Belmont as a distinguished policeman, retiring as a Lieutenant Detective after 31 years with the Belmont Police Department.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Joseph’s Church in Belmont, MA at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 with the burial will be at Belmont Highland Meadow Cemetery with a gathering for family and friends at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown, MA after the burial. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute ( http://www.dana-farber.org/ ) in Edward’s name.
