Edward Patapanian, of Watertown, July 30, 2018 at 91 years of age after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Beloved husband of 68 years to Elaine (Zona) Patapanian. Father of Jay Patapanian of Belmont and Cheryl Rieves and her fiancé Iran of Las Vegas. Grandfather of Desiree and her husband Daylen Dove of California. Great grandfather of Dayla Dove.
Ed owned and operated D. Patapanian & Son, Inc. with his son; a company founded by his father in 1915. As a produce wholesaler they specialized in the ripening and packaging of bananas and tomatoes. From humble beginnings they operated out of the small rented basement of a Post Office in Watertown. In 1957 they moved the company to more modern quarters to a warehouse in North Cambridge. By the late 1970’s as space was becoming a problem the decision was made and in the early 1980’s moved the facilities into a new 28,000 sq.ft. refrigerated warehouse and distribution center at the wholesale produce market in Chelsea.
The past 5 plus years Ed has been in the care of Sunrise of Arlington. We would like to thank everyone there for the great care he received. A very special heartfelt thanks to all the nurses, aids, and each and every one of the team members on the third floor for the incredible unselfish loving and compassionate care, with dignity they afforded to Ed. It will never be forgotten. Ed’s in God’s Care Now, Home at Last.
